Matador: Myrtle Beach Pitch

Hey Matador Creator House Team,

My name is Holly Mandarich so nice to e-meet you! First and foremost I brand myself as a storyteller — capturing the experience of life through photography, words, design and video. I aspire to treat life as an adventure, each aspect full of depth, wisdom and wonder as the next. There’s always something to learn from each moment; from the mundane, from the pain, and of course, from the moments of joy. The last 10 years I’ve scoured the Western Part of North America living on and off the road seeking to connect further with nature and how we as humans relate to it. More than anything I’m drawn to moments of synchronicity, those sparks of magic that remind us we’re on the right path, that there is something more. This manifests most for me through travel and the outdoors. This opportunity feels like one of those aligned moments, especially being that one of your recruiters reached out to me asking me to become a Matador Creator and to apply to this, even though I am already a Matador Creator!

I personally think I’d do a fine job fulfilling what you’re looking for in a candidate at the Matador Creator House. I check the boxes of photographer, outdoor advocate, traveler, athlete, foodie, digital creator and storyteller. I can be gemini-aly dualistic in my philosophical rants, educational in sharing information I’ve found valuable, goofy and sassy to please a crowd, or a quiet listener to hold space for others. I do love people, and strive deeply to understand them and how they experience life. Then take that into my art for translation.

I enjoy being immersed in what is, when it comes to a new place, instead of trying to project a ideal reality onto something, I often find that the truth is always more magical and inherently stimulating than simply just another photo of people smiling with a full face of makeup. I look to accurately represent the joy that each area has, so exploring Myrtle Beach’s coastline, culture, and vibrant events sound like a truly special opportunity. It would be fun to get there and experience a few days before deciding on the theme of each of the 4 video pieces. To star in a mini-documentary, I’m not going to lie, touches on a larger dream of mine. I have always had a dream of being the host of a tv show that travels the world going on grand adventures showcasing how people find their wonder in the world, along with uncovering ancient secrets and knowledge. To put it in one word, we could call that, alignment.

I would be honored to spend this time at the Matador Creator House, not just to showcase my skills but to fully embrace the spirit of this project: connection, creativity, and wonder of it all.
